Eternabond tape to seal water tank
Does anyone have experience using Eternabond tape to seal a crack in a fresh water tank?? Our Forest River is a couple months out of warranty and has a crack along one of the manufacturing seams. No luck with the dealer. I have read about welding the seam, but no one in the area does that type of work. Of course, the dealer just wants to replace the tank.

Why don't you try that FLEX SEAL in a can, they say it will stick to anything and seal it 100%. I'm talking about that stuff advertized on TV that seals the bottom of the boat, either that or try an epoxy.

You need to be aware of how toxic anything you use is, remember it is in contact with consumable water.

I think if he roughed it up real good with sandpaper and wiped it down with acetone, it might work. Worth a try anyway.

I have a friend that had his fresh water tank welded. It works ! Check the yellow pages for a private R.V. repair shop. The local dealer told him they don’t weld. He found a private shop that had the machine.

Out of warranty----------------
Even tho your Forest River product is out of warranty by a couple of months, I would still contact Forest River (not the dealer) about the fresh water tank
being covered. You may just get a free tank but no free labor!! You have nothing to lose. If it was the factory rally, it would be free including installation.

In use for 2 years with cleaning solvent in it.
Albeit we used the fuel tank version repair kit.

I agree go with getting it welded. What that involves is actually remelting the plastic in a controlled enviroment. If the tank is polypropolene material, welding is the only fix. The problem with some plastics is adhesion properties because wax is part of the plastics makeup. But PVC,ABS, Acrylics can be mended with a product I have used sucsessfully. But I go with getting it welded if FR doesn't goodwill it out of warranty for you.

Yep, tried it once and it didn't work. I did use a torch and plastic from a milk jug to "weld" it together and it held for awhile but eventually started to leak again, so I ended up buying a new tank.

What is the capacity of the tank? The largest tank (30 gal ) from PPL is only $158.
You would need the dimensions to buy the proper tank but why even fool with a repair on a new trailer? Buy a new tank that will not fail you.
You will also need to figure what caused the original to fail so it does not happen again.
You can also google fresh water tanks for RV and get 1000's of hits.
