Filling water tank question?

Dumb question but why does my camper have two spots to fill the fresh water tank? I have a 2011 Wildwood toy hauler. Don't know much about it yet, but the paper said it had like a 80 gal tank for fresh I think. All the campers I've owned had one fill hose, but this one has two right on top of one another? Can anyone give me an idea why it is like this? Should I only use one or the other? Thanks

I don't have a picture on my phone and I'm at work. It has two caps right above the axles. They are about 4 inches apart on top of one another. There is a sticker next to the caps that says something about fresh water filling.

This isn't mine but it has two spots to put water in to in front of the axle. Am I totally wrong on this or what?

I just picked up my Chaparral 2 weeks ago. It's my 4th trailer, but the plumbing on this also has me a little perplexed. It is currently "winterized" dry with air pressure, but I can't find the water heater bypass valves. If it is on the back of the water heater, it is behind a screwed on panel in the basement.

But back to the OP. This may or may not help.

Mine also has 2 water hose connections close together.

The 2 on the left with caps. The lower one is marked "City Water Connection". The upper one isn't marked, but during my PDI the service tech said it was the black tank flush.

That makes a good point that it might have a black tank wash.

On my trailer (different, I know), I have two threaded inputs (like the two on the left side of the above pic). One is for city water and one is the black tank flush - because both require/accept pressurized hoses. It has been my experience that fresh water fill openings are not threaded - you simply stick a hose in them and fill in a non-pressurized manner.

Both of my inlets are not threaded. You just stick the house in the opening. Another good point.

Agreed Mr. Dan. Ours has a black tank flush and a winterization screw ports. Our fresh water fill is not threaded.

I believe it is. It looks like a black version of my white antifreeze "sucker" but I've never seen a panel like this pic. And rather than a knob, it's a female threaded connection.

This one is a cap and plug on a male threaded connection. I suspect there is a "hose kit" to make this work. I'm sure Home Depot has everything I need to make my own "kit".

I just wish the manuals were a little more specific to the brand/model. The general FR manual doesn't address my panel at all.

One is a tank fill, the other is probably your city water. Most tank flushes look the same, but are black and somewhat separated from fresh water.

My belief is threaded outside - winterizing port, threaded inside - city or flush ports, no threads fresh water fill. Unfortunately all mine are black ( but labeled ),

That's probably not a knob, but the cap on the end of a hose. Give it a pull.

X2 Mr.Dan & Aquaman, that should be his antifreeze suction hose with a black cap. Just pull it out and you should have a hose long enough to drop in a bottle of AF.
As far as the two water inlets, mine on my 2014 Heritage Glen has two female threaded inlets, one is for city water and the other (yes it is threaded too) is for my fresh tank fill. But I am amazed at the lack of labeling in this unit. Usually I see it labeled wrong, but at least it's labeled. My black tank flush is also identical and nearby, but it is a black fitting as opposed to the white fittings. In answer to the OP, hook em' up and see what happens!!

The picture the OP put up in post 4 shows two gravity fills with no threaded connection. You can see the screened ports for the vent lines on each one. One has to be for the fresh tank. Is it possible his unit has two fresh tanks? I added a tank on one of my hybrids and had two fills like that, but I have never seen one from the factory. And with two tanks you need a 3 way valve somewhere on the pump suction line.

Maybe they cut the 3" hole for it in the wrong place, and then just stuck an extra fill port in to fill the hole ? That would not surprise me.

Why not look underneath, or open up the access inside, and see whats connected to them and where it go's?

Having 2 tanks makes sense, since he said he had 80 gallons of fresh water. The biggest tank I've seen has been 60-65 gallons.

How big is your fresh water tank? You must have a separate vent tube when filling the tank the air has to escape somewhere.

My Sierra had a screw connection for fresh water tank. The vent was located underneath next to the tank drain.
