Flojet macerator power source?

I ordered a Flojet portable macerator and I am asking about sources of power.

I have read in these forums that some run wires from their house batteries for temporary power and others have made a more permanent 12V hookup. Since my RV is rather new and pristine I don't want to start hooking up wires and fouling something up.

I contacted the manufacturer and was told that the Flojet requires 17 amps with a fuse size of 20 amps.

What I am thinking is to have a device that converts 120V AC to 12V DC. Then I can plug into a convenient outside shore power outlet or even into the outside RV 120V outlets.I am wondering if anyone has done this and what are they using.

I have a portable battery pack that can be used for hot shots and to power 12V devices but it does not offer the sufficient amount of amps.

I just bought some 10 gauge automotive stranded wire and some battery clamps and made a nice extension that is pretty simple to use and store. I needed about 25 feet for my rig.

It seems to be the consensus in this forum to just hook the Flojet to the RV battery. Some have made special connections and others do what you did.

I am looking for something more foolproof. I have had a few too many concussions and I can get distracted very easily. that and memory problems makes me dangerous with electricity and not too competent with my extensive tool collection. Prudence would have me call the fire department and the medics before I begin to solder connections.

My RV has too expensive batteries 12 volt and I don't want to ruin them with a bad hookup. I am not sure about the proper way to run wires from two batteries.

I do have long jumper cables that may reach from the batteries to the dump pipe.

Check the post and photos I place this morning under camper modifications. I ran a pair of dedicated wires from the battery, through the enclosed underbelly, to near the waste valves, spliced in a connector to fit the one on the Flo-Jet so I have a connector handy when using the Flo-Jet.

Nice, I should do that too. My problem is that I am not physically able to do so and I'm too cheap to pay someone.

It looks like I will go with a similer hookup but not permanent.

I made a lead with a Bargman connector to plug into the trailer's 12V.

I actually bought a small 12volt car battery from Walmart and carry that with me. I use it for both my air pump and the macerator.
I keep it charged with a trickle charger that I also carry.
The battery itself has a built in handle to carry it.

I like that idea. I am concerned that the amp draw may be too high for the trailer connector coming our of my motorhome. This would be very convenient and a perfect solution.

I like this also and I know a lot of people use this method. Which battery did you get from Walmart?
