Flushable Wipes question
Getting the Tracer ready for the maiden voyage and on my checklist I made a note to bring septic safe flushable wipes. Did a few internet searches and for the most part seems like the general consensus sways to no by a slim margin, but also there is not much mention of RV usage.
Can anyone share their RV opinions or experiences with this please.
Thanks.

in short, NO.
RV toilet paper only unless you plan to have a sealed trashcan by the potty.

That is what we do. Don't forget a plastic bag in the can.

Since getting into the inclosed black tanks is an expensive ordeal, I think I would only put single ply potty paper down the shoot and nothing else. Flush-able doohickeys might be alright at home with city sewers and septic tanks, but that TT or 5th wheel inclosed potty tank, I say it's a no no just to be on the safe side.
You don't need to buy that RV paper, any SINGLE PLY paper is safe to use.

We just don't put any paper down the toilet. It all goes in a plastic bag lined trash can. Wife has done that since she was a small child as their sewage system in their house was very finicky. At home, she does it, but not me, it goes in the toilet. She empties them, so it doesn't bother me in the least.

We've used them for years and never had a problem. However, we are sure to put plenty of liquids in the tank to avoid a brown pyramid. It really doesn't matter what you put down there, if there isn't enough liquids you're going to have a problem eventually.
If you're really concerned, try placing a sheet of TP or wipe in a glass of water. Put your hand over the top and shake it up. The ones that break up quickly are better for your tank.
Putting the used TP in the garbage next to your toilet is gross to me but you're paying the bills so I don't vote(;

Thanks for all the advice. Maiden voyage went well. I went with the RV paper in the toilet, and wipes etc. in a bag lined small trash can with a step operated lid.
Learned a lot on the trip, such as my Tracer doesn't come with a toilet paper roll holder, so I will be installing one later this week. Also a fellow camper told me to level the unit by placing the spirit level on the frame lip of the front storage doors. That worked well.
Thanks again for all tips.

We use a floor stand for the TP holder since there is no easy way to mount one that won't be in the way.

This was our remedy for a toilet paper holder . I don't even take it down while traveling.

I use the Costco TP in my LaCrosse. I took some of the more expensive RV paper and some of the costco paper, and put each in a glass of water and observed. They both broke up nicely. Wipes do not break up.
We got a nifty TP holder that also held 3 rolls of TP.

We use the wipes, but I empty the black tank every day when we're on the road, so there's little risk of a blockage. We almost always stay at FHU campgrounds, or use the dump near the gate as we're leaving one with no sewer at the individual site.

I use one like this. Sits on the floor and you'll will never run out of toilet paper (As long as you keep restocking)

We used the wipes the first year, when we were rookies, and flushed them. At the end of the season, we did a FULL COMPLETE flush for like an hour. What do you think came flying out of the hose? Yup.....wipes. So I did an experiment with the "flushable" bio-degradable wipes. I put one in water and left it sit in a pan on my bathroom counter. No break down after a week.....2 weeks.....3 weeks....a month..... Kept replenishing the water as it evaporated. Finally a full 3 MONTHS LATER, I gave up, dumped the water, and threw the FULLY INTACT wipe in the garbage. Lesson learned.

These wipes belong in a plastic bag not in the black water tank! We would never get that out! Regular RV paper in the tank only! You were right no break down of those things!

It was either Wal-Mart or Bed, Bath & Beyond. It is actually a paper towel holder but fits 2 rolls of TP perfectly!!!

Not all wipes are bio-degradable They do make a brand that is safe for septic tanks, at least that is what they say. We do not throw them down our toilet at home even being on a city sewer system. I have never did the test that Trudinator did, but I do not trust what the manufacturer say's and from his test results I'm glad I didn't. I guess he proved it. We keep a small can next to the head and then empty it daily. My wife gets mad at me all the time because I will not even buy 2 ply paper. I won because I'm the one who has to clean it out.

A closed container would work best for wipes.
At the RV show yesterday I stopped at the Sandidumps counter to view the TP test. Some of the RV bands didn't pass the test while one of the big box brands did really well. I'm going to test my fave RV tp brand to see how it breaks down.
On another note I didn't even know there was a 3 ply tp on the market.
