Our new rig has an advertized 50 gallon fresh tank! Woo Hoo!!
I've just discovered that when we use it "all" and the water pump is
sucking air- there are still a 9 gallons in the tank.
That's 18% unusable fresh water. Darn!!
I know this because the tank level lights were still showing 1/3 full when
the pump sucked air. This happened twice and YES we were level. Last time
I put a 4 1/2 gallon bucket under the fresh drain and opened it. The
bucket filled to the top twice....
Of course my rig's belly is enclosed so I can't see the tank at all.
I guess one day I'll have to take out a bunch of screws and remove the LP
lines and pull down the cover and see what's going on in there.
Probably can't do much but I have an idea that -maybe- I could remove
the pump suction fitting and jerry rig a short piece of slightly curved hose
on the inlet end of the fitting and re-insert the fitting in the tank.
Maybe that couple inches of extra reach would allow me to pump closer to
the actual bottom of the tank. Alternate would be to T into the drain
hose and pump from there. Problem with that is the T would most likely
end up below the belly cover and thus be exposed to cold/freezing temps.
Thoughts and comments welcome!!
