Fresh Water Coming out fill hose

Hey y'all.

I've seen alot on here how to fix water coming out the fresh water fill hose when the city water is hooked up but I have a different problem.

I can fill my fresh water tank but when I turn the pump on I get no water pressure and it just pushes it right back out the fill hose. I'm at a loss for where to even begin. Besides that all my water works great

Pump may/could be wired backwards. Did it ever work or is this the first time using?

Yea it used to work perfect. Had an issue where I couldn't get any water pressure from the city side and a guy went in and did something so the city side would work but now my fresh water is messed up. Not sure what he did though

My guess is that the one way check valve in your water pump is bad.

When you pressurize the system with the water pump, a rubber check valve is supposed to keep it pressurized until you open a tap.

If that valve is torn or not seating, the pressure will force the water back into the fresh tank.

Depending on how level you are and the location of your fill hose and vent, that pressure can force collected water out of those holes.

To fix:

To fix the valve seating issue, you should cycle the pump till it pressurizes and shuts off and open and close a faucet several times hopefully allowing the crud that is keeping the valve from seating to flush out. Do this a few times. If that does not work ands the pump continues to run you may need a rebuild kit or a new pump.

You could also install a outside the pump one way check valve between the pump and the fresh water feed line to prevent back flow.

If you mean water is coming out of your city water connection, then the city water connection's check valve is not back-seating. If it's just some crap stuck in it, you should be able to flush it out by hooking up a city water hose and putting water through it (of course, the crap will now travel through your plumbing). If that doesn't work, you'll need to replace the city water connection.

The quick-and-dirty fix is to just screw a cap onto the city water connection.

I re-read your post and I can see how I misunderstood your issue.

You now have "fixes" (and work arounds) for whatever is wrong with your system.

Back to the OPs issue. Water comes out of city water connection when pump turned on.

The check valve located inside the city water connection most likely has had the oring dislodged from the valve seat. The valve can be replaced very easily for under $20. Try Amazon.

I have taken several of them apart and relocated the oring. It's tricky to explain, but you have to pop the stem out of the round keeper. Reseat the oring and reassemble. This usually happens when you push the little button in to get antifreeze out of the city connection during winterizing.

If you reduce the system pressure before pressing the button it greatly reduces the risk of unseating the oring.
