Fresh water tank & pump?

We have a 2014 Tracer 230FBS camper. We are headed to a state park soon and will have to fill the fresh water tank & use the pump for the first time (always went to places that had water available before). Anyway, just want to make sure I'm doing it right. What's the proper procedure for filling the tank and starting the pump?
INFO - the pump is an "on demand" unit. Also, I've always had the camper winterized & de-winterized at the dealer, so I believe they cycle the fresh water system in the process as the fresh water drain is always open when I pick it up, with water draining.

Nice trailer. Just fill the tank and then turn on the pump. It will run when you open a faucet.

If you haven't used the fresh water tank or pump I would sanitize them before use. Just use some bleach, fill tank with water and use pump to run water to faucets until you smell the bleach. Let sit overnight then drain and flush with fresh water.

A common problem is that (if equipped) the three way valve on the suction side of the water pump is left in the "winterize" position. It has to be turned to allow water to be pulled from the tank. If you fill the tank and the pump will not prime, that's the first thing to look at.

Here's a tip I learned the hardway: Shut the pump off when you are not using water at the sink or shower. Definitely shut the pump off before leaving the camper. If you leave pump on and a Pex fitting fails, you'll have potential water damage to your camper's floor.

As others have mentioned, the same goes for the city water. Shut it off if you're leaving the immediate area.
