Fresh Water Tank OOPS
I've been RV'ing for 9 years, and one of my biggest fears happened today. I was trying to sanitize my fresh water tank. When I turned the hose on, the clear end of the fresh water fill gadget popped off the gadget and went down into my fresh water tank. Actually, I've had this happen before, but the clear hose just "sits" in the fill area and I retrieve it. Not this time. Went down into the tank.
Got an appointment with an RV repair place, to remove the fresh water tank and fish out the hose........ This is gonna cost me....... And I doubt this is covered under ANY warranty......

Maybe a dumb question, but have you tried to open the valve on the bottom of the fresh water tank to see if it would drain out on it's on?
|

IMO the hose won't hurt anything-- leave it in there.
Why spend money to have it retrieved when it's not gonna matter
in the long run.
Plus pulling the tank, opening the top, (is there an opening in the top?)
and replacing tank are all things that might cause other issues.
Leave it in there!!

The opening is on the side on mine.
You would need to remove the tank and shake the hose so that it comes out. This could take quite a while at $175 an hour.
I would leave it in as well. Won't hurt anything and can't block the drains because it is round.
There is also a very good chance it is still in the hose.
Drop the weather panel and remove the fill hose carefully and the tubing should drop right out.

Do you mean, open the drain valve? I doubt it will shake out of that. I've had that fill gadget for years, so it can't be that clean, that's why I don't want it bouncing around the tank, although I had just put bleach in the tank before it happened......

I would leave in also, the bleach will take care of any contaminates.

Save your money and buy a new filler adapter, and some beer or something and don't worry about it.

Had this happen to friends with their camper. They just left it in and in 3 years it has caused no issues at all!

If you were using it to put water into the tank it cannot be that bad.

I would trade it in on a new one before anything happens. Just kidding A piece of tubing should't caused any problems I'm with the others leave it in.

Update. I went to an RV dealer. (I'm still under warranty, so I smiled sweetly and asked if this could be warranty, and the RV dealer said, "yeah right, don't think so....." HEE HEE!)
Turns out, the Kwik Fill tube was stuck in the intake hose to the water tank (what Herk7769 suspected). Didn't have to take out my water tank. The intake hose had a "bend" in it, so there was no way the stiff Kwik Fill tube could naturally get around the bend and get in the tank. However, leaving the Kwik Fill tube in the intake hose, in my opinion, would have eventually caused some damage. Like, maybe some higher water pressure would cause it to poke through the intake hose or something...... RV dealer only charged me $50 so this was well worth it in my opinion. My water tank is located under my bed. Have to unscrew the bed platform (which I could have done, but didn't want to), and there is my water tank.
At least knowing that I sleep on top of a water tank isn't as bad as in my last RV (also a Forest River) where all the electrical stuff was under my bed. That made me nervous!

I am now, but I wasn't before because the water pressure wasn't that great..... until my "oops" happened.....
