We had a similar problem last summer with our fresh water tank not draining. Discovered a mud dauber had plugged it up. Took a wooden dowl rod and rubber mallet to unplug it.

You need to use the fresh water tank drain to drain the tank itself. The low point drains drain the water in the water lines. When using them you need to open up a hot and cold faucet to vent the lines.

Low point drains do not drain the FW tank. There is usually a valve at the tank to drain it.

Sorry Bob, didn't see your post. You nailed it.

I can't see under your unit from here but my fresh water tank has a pipe/tube coming straight out the bottom of it - centered side to side of the tank but closer to the outside end of the tank. That pipe/tube on mine has a cap on the bottom end - no valve. I have to take a knee and screw off the cap (and retain the rubber washer). I usually open the fresh water gravity fill cap to allow air in faster than just the vent tube.

Can you find your fresh water tank? I'm guessing it's right below your gravity fill.

You should be good to fill now. When we have been filling our fresh water tank at the gravity fill sometimes it won't take water in very fast, and will spray back even though it is far from full. The problem is the screened vent is clogged. I remove the clear tube from the Camco water tank filler and blow on the screened vent to clear it. Works every time. Hope this helps!

I know you resolved your fresh tank drain issue but I don't believe anyone addressed this question.

These are your low point drains for the hot & cold plumbing.
You mentioned low point drain when describing your fresh tank drain in your original post but I'm betting you were referring to your tank drain then.

These often colored blue/red lines (not always) with the caps are your actual low point drains as they are called in the R/V industry.

I put valves on mine to make draining easier.

I find that my tank drains faster when I open a cold faucet.

Low point drains will not drain fresh water tank. There should be a pipe comming thru the underbelly just below the fresh water tank. My experience is most come from factory with a scew off cap on the end... Some replace this cap with a valve for easier use. Remove this cap to drain Fresh water tank.

Oops.... already solved I guess

Opening a faucet should have no effect on how the fresh water tank drains.

Unless maybe if the check valve has gone bad in the water pump.

It will, however, allow the plumbing to drain faster.
