Frozen water tank

I have faithfully winterized my RV's over the years and again this year I drained the hot water heater and pumped antifreeze through the system. Now that it is freezing out I realized that I left the fresh water tank 1/2 full. Am I ok ? Is there something I can add to the tank?

It takes a lot to hurt the tank itself. What you have to worry about are the lines, especially the drain line and the suction line to the pump. I'd try to thaw it out and drain it as Ron said.

I presume it's not at your house but in storage at some other location? Just drain it as soon as possible and you are done. IF it's at the house, and even if it's below freezing, still drain it. If nothing flows I would leave the drain open and try to warm with a hair dryer or heat gun (but be careful with heat gun). The drain line will likely be the first part to freeze since it is the smallest diameter and most exposed. Once it drains, cap it and you are done.

May want to run the pump to clear the suction line (set valves to draw from the tank) but I would put RV anti-freeze through the pump again afterwards if you do that.

This^^^^^^ My first year of ownership I accidently left my fresh water tank 1/3 full. Temps in the teens froze it solid, no harm done.

I would drain as soon as temps allow.

The FW tank is pretty flexible and should be fine, the only concern would be the drain valve as that could break. Did you verify there is no liquid behind the black/grey tank drain valves.

I remembered to drain the grey/black water tanks after the last trip. Pump should be fine since I used it to pump the antifreeze through the lines. I used a hair dryer to open the drain valve but nothing came out. It is at home but this Minnesota and it won't be getting any warmer until March. I was thinking about taking the cover under the tank off and setting up a buddy heater but I think I will let it be and see what happens. I am thinking the tank may handle the expansion but the drain line and line to the pump may not.

We RVed across the south for 6 years. We now leave the RV at home in the winter and rent at a 55+ park in the Rio Grande Valley for 3 months.
