Don't know if that would make things better or worse. I know it's not going to smell like roses to start with, but leaving your tanks sitting with water may not be the way to go.
I would stick to the "Geo Method" exactly and I think you would be fine. Don't forget the chlorine part in the method. Works very well. You may also want to look into a "Flush King". This way you don't have to run a garden hose into the camper. I've had one for a few years now and can tell you it works very well. I do not have a tank rinser on my camper which is why I purchased a "Flush King".
