Has anyone used winterizing valve for fresh water fill.

New to the forum. Has anyone used the winterizing valve to draw fresh water from 5gl containers with the pump and then the exterior shower to the gravity fill on the 5er? Our new 32 WB has all hookups in the basement wet bay. Hard to add water to the gravity fill without getting a bath. Old trailer had the gravity fill on left side rear.

Yes. Common practice.

Note that some people just draw from the 5 gal containers as needed and skip putting it into the FW tank.

Yes, but it’s quite slow. Took me a good 30 minutes to transfer 40-60 gallons from a bladder sitting on my truck bed.

Hi Chascin,

For extended boondocking like at Quartzsite, I use that same general lashup to move water from five gallon jugs to the fresh water intake fitting (there is no gravity fill port on my rig). It's a perfectly satisfactory way to add water.

Thanks for all the responses. We sometimes camp at electric only sites and was trying to figure out how to keep DW in shower water w/o taking one myself.

I have not thought of this, but seems like a logical way to get water from a tank or bladder into the trailer water tank. I have been using a separate pump to pump from my bladder into the tank. I also bought a beer bong funnel to pour into manual fill, but it takes two people, one to hold the funnel, and one to pour. Needless to say, I'm getting too old to lift a six gallon tank head high. Do you have to put an extension on the suction hose? Do you have to put a garden hose adapter on the end of the suction hose? When I winterize the suction hose really cleans out a gallon of antifreeze in short order. Would think it would do 30 gallons in a fairly short amount of time.

Another option. Get a 12V wash down pump from a marine store. Add a power connector on the end that will mate with your TV 12V connection. Add fittings on the input and output side to accommodate your setup. You can leave heavy water containers in the bed of the TV and transfer the water at a good rate.

My issue has always been getting them to prime. Is the pump you're talking about self priming?

I wonder if you'll find a drinking water safe wash down pump?

That was always my issue- finding a high flow pump that was safe for drinking water.
