Just noticed when taking shower that hot water seems to be running out. Never happened before. Connected to power. Could this be thermostat or element?? Water is hot but just not lasting thru shower. Thanks in advance for your help!!!

If you are using an electric water heater, the anode may be worn out.

You mean heating element, not anode rod.
The anode has nothing to do with heating the water.

where are you located? is the weather getting colder which may cool the in coming water temperature to the water heater. This will cause water heater not to keep up as it takes more BTU/watts for the electric element to warm the water that is being used.

South Carolina. Not very cold yet. Never had this situation before. Thought maybe the element could be going out, causing the water not to be heated as quick as it should.
The above link is from the Library at the top of the page. You will need to download it and open it at the bottom of the screen. On page 18 _ 19 is trouble shooting for the water heater electric side. The one scenario that jumped out at me was that the heating element may be encrusted with calcium from hard water. This will insulate the heating element slowing down the heat transfer to the water. If the hot water heater is full of calcium go the store and buy a gallon of vinegar remove the pressure releaf valve and put the vinegar in the hot water heater tank. fill to top with vinegar and water let it sit for an hour and flush the heater with water to remove the vinegar. leave the releaf valve out to vent the calcium carbonate gas that is created from dissolving the calcium. Just a stab in the dark.
