Hot Water Connections Leak

Hello, and Happy 4th to all. While camping last week in Truckee, CA I noticed a puddle of water on the floor in the kitchen area just outside of the sink cabinet. Investigation led me to 2 dripping connections to the hot water heater, cold and hot. I tightened a little but may still have slight drip. It was pretty cold, about 30 degrees outside. This is the first leak I've had, new Salem 22RKS. Had it out 6 times since bought in February.

Do these connections to WH need teflon tape? Does the cold factor maybe have something to do with this? It's under warranty, but much trouble to get it in to dealer right now.

Appreciate any thoughts. Thanx

Sometimes when a steel fitting and a plastic fitting are screwed together and its hot then cold out they expand and contract at different rates allowing leaks.
Teflon tape might be the answer.
