My setup in my lacrosse is the same as Gr...and my red light has never come on...even when lighting....and the manual states this light will only come on in a lockout condition...which is after the unit attempts to light 3 times...after that if it fails...the unit goes right in lock out mode and the red light comes on....
This seems to be the case with mine...as when I turn mine on I hear it trying to light...and then light...and the red light never comes on during that process.
Mine is an attwood..and this information is on page 4 of the owners manual. Just an FYI...

kozzy, I'll have to check my manual. I thought I saw the light come on briefly when I tested the gas side, but I do remember (if indeed it did) it was just a split second because the WH fired right up. i've tested it a few other times, but never paid any attention to the light. It always fires up immediately.

Sorry for posting incorrect info and thanks for setting me straight.

No need to apologize to me brother....all the information is helpful. I only checked the manual because all you guys say your light turns on and mine didn't. I thought something might be wrong with mine and I just wanted to verify. Once I saw what I did I just wanted to share for the good of he cause

This is weird. My grey wolf has the suburban WH. Pretty much same as everyone else.....dsi with electric switch on exterior. Except mine the red light is on the whole time the WH is on. Works fine. The exact same on my old trailer aswell. The heater works fine. Water heats great. Refires after draining tank a bit. Hmmmm

Different water heaters

Kozzy, you are correct. I had an Attwood in my TT and it worked exactly as you describe. The fault light stayed off unless there truly was a fault.

In my new Sabre, the fault light comes on when you turn the heater switch on, then goes out once the flame is burning.
