Hot Water Heater--Help !

My husband and I just bought are RV and are getting it ready for travel and we can not find the hot water heater. We have a 5th wheel. We have looked all over. Any suggestions as to where it could be.

Look on the outside of your unit for a white metal access door, probably about 18" by 18" with a grill at 1 end or corner. Your water heater will be behind that.

If your unit has the standard 6 gal Water heater, look on the outside of the RV for a metal panel, which can be opened, about 2 1/2 feet square or so with a louvered panel . The water heater is behind it and this will help you locate it from the inside. If you have the new style continuous demand type water heater, I can't help you.

2007 Grand Surveyor, we found it but we still can not get any hot water in the RV. And no matter what we do the hot water heater is not filling up.

You need to access the back of the water heater and open the supply/discharge valves on the water lines there. Make sure that the valve on the water heater bypass line is closed. There may be an access panel that you'll have to remove to getat it.

If you have tried heating the water without water in the hot water tank, you maybe have burnt out the electric heating element. An ohm meter will be needed to check for continuity on the element.

Everything checks out but we are not getting water anywhere in the trailer. In the sinks or shower etc. We are waiting for the salesperson from where we bought to call us back. She is not in yet. Before we make the hour drive back or maybe she can tell us over the phone.

This is the kind of stuff that just infuriates me.

There is absolutely no excuse for this shoddy treatment from a dealer you paid thousands of "not neccessary" dollars to. How many "I can't get hot water" posts have we seen from first time buyers in the last month?

Why would a tankless on-demand system be mounted internally? They still need an air supply, need to be vented and, probably, need to be accessed occasionally for maintenance/service. I'm confused.

Richard, you are correct. I am entirely new to the tankless water heater. Looking it up just now, it appears that you still need an outside access and cover. I was thinking they might be electric only, without anything on the outside of the camper. My bad.

Did the RV dealer ever get back with you and did you get your problem resolved?

That would be "WE are here". This board helped me when I was as green as grass and my dealer was just as helpful as theirs.

If I left the board tomorrow, folks would still be here helping each other because that is what we do. You would just miss my jokes.

I'm still hoping that Bolton23 comes back with an update on whether or not they have their problem solved.
