Inside switch on and gas should provide hot water.

Did you switch your bypass back to water through tank?

Is there a pilot I need to light as the water isn't warming up on gas. It's been an hour or so now since I turned the gas water heater on.

I think this is exactly what happened.

My plan may be to purchase a new switch, and possibly heating element to repair everything when we get back home.

We will use the state park facilities to get cleaned up.

Bummer!

No pilot but it could be in 'lockout'. Sometimes if you've not purged the propane line and the water heater doesn't light on the first few tries, it goes into lockout. Shut the Inside switch off, wait a minute or so and turn it back on. Go outside and listen and see if you hear it light or try to. If you don't hear it trying to light, it may have done some damage to the LP side of the control circuit if you fried the 110v circuit.

I did not read where the OP has said the CB for the heating element is not tripped as mentioned early on. This may help explain the electric side of the issue. Sounds like the heater has gone into lockout also for the DSI side.

Post # 3 said he tried to reset them but didn't notice a click or anything out of the ordinary.

My switch also went bad melted in the on. Had to turn it off with the inside breaker until I replaced it with a switch in the motor home.

Don't know which model you have, but here's a manual for some of them.

If the OP is going to replace the electric heating element, I'd like to remind him to purchase a socket made especially for unscrewing it. I had to make a 2nd trip to the RV store when I fried my heating element because I ASS-U-MED it was the same size as the anode and it isn't. It's not expensive, you'll always have it and might be able to loan it to someone sometime.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I watched a YouTube video this morning. The job seams easy enough but that socket will come in handy.

The good news is this doesn't appear to be the end of the world, except that for some reason I feel the switch fried (the one on the hw heater outside).

I am not receiving hot water via gas either, by the way.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I didn't help matters as I got the two switches confused!

Additionally, when I turn on the GAS hw switch to on via the control panel inside the Roo, the button doesn't light up like it should. I just realized that.

Any cause for that? Seems like I've got several issues going here.

Check your 12v fuses. The WH needs 12v to use the LP side of the WH.
Maybe when the 110v side of things went south it blew a fuse?
In theory they are separate systems but without seeing what possibly melted with the switch/element, it 'may' have shorted something else as well.

Any other fuse locations besides the main panel and the one for my slide (located outside underneath the RV)?
