Hot water heater question

Do you or are you suppose to turn off the hot water after you're done camping? We've had our trailer over a year now and I never have other than to drain it for winter but just read another thread that mentioned turning it off so now I'm curious. Thanks in advance for your response.

The danger of leaving the WH on is that if you are in electric mode and the water heater drains ( intentionally or otherwise) you will burn up your heating element is seconds if you connect to shore power. Many times this happens when people connect to shore power at home to clean RV or prep it for the next trip. In propane mode, the heat could damage the tank or trip the over temp protection. I always turn off my WH when I break camp.

We camp once or twice a month and I always turn it off before we leave camp. I only drain it when I winterize it.
