Hot Water Heater will not light

The igniter works but no gas is coming through light, need help to check what the problem could be. I have owned RV’s forever and do a lot of my own work. The model is SW12DE, Serial Number is 110406785. Any help to find the problem would be great it is brand new coach and I am a long ways from service center.

Shut propane tank valves then wait 20 seconds then 're open very very slowly.

Hotwater Tank still doesn't light

I checked to see if the solenoid where getting 12 volts when trying to light and they are showing 12.5 or more. Still no gas after trying the shut off thing. One tank is half full and the other is full. Any other ideas would be a lot of help.
Thanks

I am no expert, but when I had an issue, I light my stove, switched fridge to gas for five minutes cause both are after HW heater. I have a RK model.

My first guess is a stuck solenoid valve at the burner.
Are you SURE you have gas to the rest of the RV?
You say it's a coach-- those have a LP shutoff that's interlocked with
the Propane gas detector. IF the detector is faulty or the solenoid
it connects to are faulty you get no gas anywhere.

If everything else is working normally but just no gas at the burner
of your water heater, I'm going with a stuck solenoid valve in the water heater. Try tapping the solenoid with a screwdriver handle
while it's trying to light.

Good Luck.
If you get it working please write back and tell us what you found.

+1... Mine does it occassionally and i'll shut the gas off for a lil bit and turn it back on. I've only used my hot water heater on this TT once though. I usually dont light it.

I would also check the high temp reset button.

Here is the manual for the 10 gallon Suburban in case you don't have the 12 gallon manual handy.

Gas will not flow if the 12 volt high temp thermostat is popped or the connecting wire is blown (like on the left in the photo). It will also not flow if there has been 3 failed relight attempts. (To reset the control board counter, pull the fuse to the water heater).

Hey Lou, he said it's clicking trying to light AND he's got voltage at the
solenoid. IF that's true, it's not the board or reset tripped.

I'm really wondering if he has LP at the solenoid!!! I'm thinking the LP
is off somewhere- probably the LP gas detector safety solenoid.
He says brand new. Gotta wonder if it was tested at the dealer during
initial inspection when he got the keys?

Sorry, I missed that.

Does the furnace work? If there is enough gas to fire the furnace the propane is fine.

If he smells gas at the water heater it could be a blocked flue resulting in an over rich mixture.

If no gas and spark it could be the solenoid or a blocked jet.

Remember 3 no-lights and it is locked out. The unit must be switched off to reset the control board.

Stove will still light even if opd valve has tripped on propane tanks !
Hw heater and furnace require to much gas and will NOT light if opd valve has tripped.

Unless he's tried shutting off tanks that's still my bet.

That is why I stated he needs to make sure the furnace runs.

I had the same problem when my coach was new. It would spark, but would not ignite. I took some very fine sand paper and gently rubbed the spark rod. I have never had a problem since. Good Luck.
