I can't even guess about your unit but many units have a Tank Heater switch to operate the 12v tank heater pads on waste and FW tanks. Mine doesn't have a label but it does turn red when the cold weather tank heater switch is on.

It's hard for me to see in your pic... but I think the heater 'fault light' is the little red dot (light) between the water heater switch and the water pump switch. [Doesn't it say FLT underneath it?]

Yes. But that is for FW water tank only...(it says "pump"...which i don't need on)..I'm on city water. Only switch "on" is tank on switch. That's the only way I know to turn on tank less system. There are no other switches than the ones shown in 2nd pic.

What brand of hot water heater. If its Atwood go outside and take cover off and at the top left corner there is a little bitty reset button. Push it in. Its small so it wont seem like much of a push. Had to do that several times on mine till it finally quit. There was a recall part on mine that I hope fixed the the problem so far so good. This is on a tankless heater. Good luck.

I believe the switch that you have on and is illuminated red is the "arctic pack" heater pads to keep your gray and black tanks warm enough so they do not freeze.

The switch immediately left is your water pump and the switch left of the water pump switch is your water heater switch. Notice the label "water" above those switches spans across both switches.

Unless it is freezing turn off the right switch. Then turn on the left switch. Since you are on a water tap leave the center pump switch off.

For those of us trying to help, you might take a pic straight on to those right side switches without some much of the pic taken up with that big white switch on the left. I can barely read the words on the right switches but IFFFFFFFFF

the word WATER is centered above the two left switches and

the word HEATER is below the first... that means the first switch is for WATER HEATER.

If the word PUMP is under the second switch... that means the second switch is for the WATER PUMP.

You wrote in post #7, '"Fault light on switch panel"?
Duuno what that is.' My post 12 told you it's the little red light between the two above mentioned switches. It's hard for me to see in you pic... but doesn't it have DSI above the red light and FLT below? That means Direct Spark Ignition (you don't have to light a pilot light on this water heater) Fault. If your water heater attempts to light and does not, this FLT (FAULT) light comes on.

I still think the right (red) switch is for your cold weather tank heaters, nothing to do with heating your shower water. These are my best guesses after attempting to decipher your pic.

Oh, yes. You wrote "Tried Fw switch to no avail." I have no idea what a Fw switch is so I can't help with that. Sorry.
