Hot Water Tank Stays On
I have a Surveyor Eco-Lite (2011) and the hot water tank is always hot. I have made sure the switch at the kitchen sink is OFF as is the black switch outside beside the tank. I have even switched off the breaker that is labelled H/W and both propane tanks are shut off. So why is the hot water tank still hot?

The water in my tank will stay hot for a few hours, your tank is made of steel so the steel will retain the heat.

Still hot after 3 days. Definitely no propane on.

Sounds like this is the case. The black switch that controls the electric heating element on a Suburban brand water heater can be tricky. To turn it OFF, you press in on the word "Off". The pic below would be in the OFF position.
It's also possible the switch is wired backwards.

Hot Water Tank Stays On
Disconnected from shore power and tank cooled down however for some reason the propane detector went off despite the fact both propane tanks were OFF. Testing to see if switch is wired incorrectly now. It was in the OFF position when I plugged back in and I did hear something from the HW tank. We'll see what happens.

Propane detector will go off with low voltage as well.
Was your battery almost dead?

Would venture to guess the switch is wired correctly, but is stuck in the ON position.

Sounds like you need a meter to check this W/H system. Looks like you have more than (1) thing wrong at the same time!  Youroo!!

Miss labeled breaker IMO.
Cable- you should be able to access the rear of your hot water heater
inside the trailer or in a storage area.
You will probably find the water heater is plugged into an outlet.
Unplug the water heater and plug in a light. Go to your electrical panel
and shut off breakers one at a time until the light goes off.
THAT is the water heater circuit breaker!
The outside switch as shown in the photo in post 6 is prone to sticking.
Mine is stuck on right now but my circuit breakers are labeled correctly
and I just use the circuit breaker to shut off the electric water heating
element when I don't want it on.

Are you referring to the black switch on the tank being miswired, or the circuit breaker being mislabeled?
As Youroo stated, you may have more than one problem, since the circuit breaker should have killed power to the electric heating element irregardless of the black switch position.
If the circuit breaker was mislabeled (thus the correct one never actually turned off), then the black switch should have turned off the electric heating element, which sounds like it didn't.

Agreed. When all else failed, the switch on the WH should have killed it. I'm thinking the tank switch was miswired and he thought it was off when on.

Don't know how you can miswire a simple on off switch. Only 2 terminals.
