Hotwater heater making noise??

The wife and I have been out for the past week on the road with the Wildwood. She noticed the other night that she thought the refrigerator was making noise. Next morning I went outside and noticed the noise, which sounds like a fan blade tapping on something was the hot water heater.

Opened the cover and turned off the "electric" switch and the sound quit. What is funny is the thing has been working fine since we got it in the "electric" mode.

Any ideas??

If what your hearing is a "tick tick tick" sound then it is normal. It's the metal in the tank and the element expanding. Every water heater I have had has made this sound....

Ours makes a noise also while heating the water, on electric, and it does sound similar to when it runs on gas. I've always assumed this is normal. I have never heard a tick tick type of noise.

Do you have your gas hot water heater switch on also? It could be the ignitor trying to fire the gas.
