How to drain fresh water tank?

I looked at the plug to see if it had rusted off, but it is just a plug, I took a stiff piece of wire and felt nothing in the bottom of the tank but some silt. The model plate with numbers etc. is still on the water heater, my TT is a 2007 if that makes a difference.

Has the Anode rod deteriorated, if so it is completely gone?

That would be my bet. They should have a copper wire from what I understand at the core but that doesn't mean someone could'nt have cut it off.

You could try taking a photo. That night help. I've only had mine out a couple of dozen times recently.

They are around $13 on Amazon. I just bought a new one to have as a spare.

The answer is "yes." The anode rod does the "rusting" instead of the tank.

(Suburbans have steel tanks that rust. Atwood's have an aluminum tank that doesn't rust, that's why Atwood's don't have an anode rod.)

Hey Now, a couple easy / obvious ways for those who don't have a FW Drain available ...

• Use the outside shower or hose attach and pump it out

• Attach hose with a Water Bandit (Thief) to kitchen or bath faucet, and again pump it out that way.

Not the fastest, but would work.

This won't drain the heater, which was what the OP was trying to do. Also, it will drain the FW tank (mostly) but won't drain the lines themselves; you'd need to blow them out with compressed air.

You are correct ... thought there was a question about it taking "forever" to drain, wonder if that was in a different post about draining fresh water tank.

Water Heater would of course be a matter of RTFM'ing.

Be careful of that Pic O Crap White FW drain valve,,, they break very easily !!!
Then you get to drill out the rivets,,, and screw a new one in !!!
