I don't understand

I don't understand why the low point drains aren't protected from freezing better than they are at present. We found, early in our camping in a TT, when the low point drains freeze at night you don't get water into the sinks or any place else.
I now have wrapped mine with heat tape and insulation. The heat tape cord is wrapped in such a way as it is easy to get to 115 or 12 volts to provide heat at that very vulnerable point. It would be nice were they put behind an access hatch to make it easier to plug in for the night when temps are expected below freezing. In our Puma the low point drains freeze and there is no water in the trailer. Everything else (holding tanks) have been attempted to be made freeze proof yet those low point drains are totally unprotected.

Could you place valves for the low point drains inside the heated part of the trailer? This essentially eliminates the problem of freezing because the part of the lines exposed to the cold is now empty.

I'm not saying that won't work. However, how do you put an access panel in the plastic cover to get to those shut-off valves? That is where I'm stumped.

That's where our trailers are too dissimilar so I'm not sure. Maybe another Puma owner can chime in.

If I were to add valves on mine, I have access to the low point lines from inside the trailer near the hot water heater.
