I found where to buy Calgon Water softner in Canada for GEO blackwater tank cleaning
This place sells it on line. Based out of Toronto and free shipping if you buy 4 boxes of it!

They will also ship to the U.S., but I think you need to spend 100.00 Cdn to get free delivery. Maybe go in on it with a friend? With the value of the Cdn dollar, might even be a decent price for our American friends? 
I just found this on Amazon.com and its waaaay more expensive to buy through Amazon.com!!! (2 X 1.13 kg/ 2lbs 8 oz boxes for $38.76 USD!!!!) Thats $19.00 /USD a box vs $9.00 CDN/ box through the website above!!! (right now $9.00 CDN= $6.80 USD , so I'd be thinking that this website (WELL.CA) might be a pretty good deal?

I also was able to buy it through Home Hardware locations. Best part is, if they don't have it in stock, they will order it to their store for you - no delivery charge!!

Me as well and it is about $8.50 / box. I asked my local store to stock it and they usually have 3 boxes on the shelf.
If you're in cottage country, chances are a Home Hardware will have plenty on the shelf.

Another thing I do is premix the calgon and laundry soap in empty water bottles, 1 box of calgon will make 6 mixtures to save time and mess while going through the dumping station.

I've also seen it at a No Frills grocery store. Our local Walmart used to carry it but hasn't for the last 4-5 years. Can't seem to get the liquid Calgon up here.

I buy ours at Great Canadian Superstore $7.99 plus taxes according to your province I suspect. I end up paying 8.95 at gst 5% and pst 7% (BC).

It's called the Geo Method...do a search on it and there is lots of info about it...basically helps line your tank so "stuff" doesn't stick to the walls, thereby causing level sensor issues. Also helps to keep holding tank fresh and odorless.

I would not like to deviate from the GEO method. If that is what works, then I think we should not play with a method already proven. However, if you wish to play with it, then please let us know how it works out for you. Since I only use powdered Calgon and powdered laundry detergent, I am not sure how one would substitute fabric softener for either of these, since I am not sure if fabric softener would come in a powder????

Fabric softener doesn't equal water softener.

HESNN2, here is the link to the GEO Method. I have read that some people will use Dawn liquid dish soap and liquid Calgon in place of the powder, but I have stayed with the powder this summer and had no issues. I use empty water bottles and make up the mixture in advance., You can get 6 treatments out of 1 box of calgon.
