Leather gloves?

I see people use & reuse leather gloves for thier Fresh water hookups then hook up the Sewer hoses, then remove the gloves, rubber or leather, and place them in a storage compartment to reuse agin when unhooking to leave. Price of unit or education seems to not have a bearing on this practice. I just hope they are NOT in the Food Service Industry! Youroo!!

Too true. A keep a box of Blue Nitrile Gloves (Ansell TNT Blue Nitrile Gloves Powder Free Large - Ansell TNT Blue Nitrile Gloves from Cole-Parmer) in my sewer bay and my tool bay for greasy, dirty work.

One use and discard.

Ditto on the Blue Nitrile gloves.

What you may be seeing when they place the used gloves back into the storage area may be just temporary. Most of the dump stations at the CGs we frequent don't have anywhere to dispose of the gloves so I just place them into a Pick and Save bag to throw out later.

ewww - we have a box of those rubber hospital gloves you get in the pharmacy section. Work great - do my sewer business and then strip off the gloves inside out so my hands never touch anything but sterile plastic!

And then I rinse the gloves off and stuff them in the bumper with the sewer hose until the next trip.... j/k.

I have seen people use the (I call them welders gloves) gloves that are not of the disposable type and put them back in a storage container in the underbelly!!!! Gross.

Should I admit that I normally don't use gloves and just wash my hands afterwards?

Last trip I kept enough water in the hot water heater and fresh water tank to wash my hands in the outdoor kitchen sink. Set it up before I started drain and flush, then just went around and used 1/2 a bar of soap to wash my hands and arms. Lastly pulled the drain for the tank. I decided that would be my usual routine now. Even with gloves on, feel better if I wash up before the drive home.

I use disposable vinyl gloves for dump hose handling. I peel each 1 off from the cuff down, turning them inside out as I take them off, and they then go into a waste container. I follow up with a Wet One, just in case there was a pin-hole in the gloves.

Same here. I also keep a box of them in the RAM for use at the diesel pump.

For the diesel pump, I have a cheap pair of work gloves (very thin) with rubber coating on the palms/fingers. I got tired of stinking like diesel fuel after a fill up.

Same reason I use the disposable rubber ones - keeps most of the diesel smell off your hands - but I also need to wear a pair of boots to keep the diesel off my feet.

I like the disposable kind because I don't have to carry them after use - into the trash they go.

After pitching the blue gloves in the trash bin in the sewer hose compartment I use a few pumps of alcohol sanitizing gel with lanolin to clean my hands.

We usually eat a snack (jerky usually - but finger food none the less) when we are on the road and getting sick from poor hygiene can ruin a great vacation.

Might I remind folks that mankind has walked the earth for thousands of years without sanitized gloves, hand sanitizer and so on and we are still here. While handling human waste should be done with care using gloves and so forth, the reality is getting a little on your skin and washing it off after one is finished should be fine. I am not discounting being sanitary here, but sometimes we forget it was not long ago when we existed without such niceties and for the most part we survived.

As the original unsanitary poster ( ) ... people used to die a LOT younger before, too!
