Lookin to upgrade my water pump

I would like to upgrade the original Shurflo 2.8GPM water pump. Tired of the cycling and noise this pump makes. Anyone have any suggestions, I'm not afraid to spend a little money.

I would have to think if the pump is cycling it is meeting demands, that is it reaches the flow requested and shuts off until it demands more. As far as noise I don't know other pumps may be better or not but two simple things I could think of would be this.
Place a product such as dynamat on the compartment walls, it acts like insulation to kill the noise. Second, try rubber washers under the connection points to the floor, this will dampen vibration and the noise it causes.
Hope it helps.

I put a old computer mouse pad under my water pump. Worked well to keep the vibrating noise to a minimum. Like was said above, you could also sound insulate the compartment walls.

Looks like you have a 31' Rockwood,?year but if fairly new pump with a little isolation mat should be Quite. Put in a (5gal) bladder tank and you will be Good to Go! Youroo!!

The correct way to size a water pump is to count the fixtures and then buy one that is the correct size and gals per minute you are looking for. The other way to quite them down is to install isolators under the four feet on the unit. To stop cycling so much you would want to add a 5 gal or so expansion tank, cheap and easy to do. Think of it as a well. I had to add a 35 gal expansion tank to my home well to stop the cycling, pumps are made to cycle so many times a minute or hour depending on the use.....West Marine has a good chart for sizing water pumps. You can also change it out for a belt driven unit, you will not even hear it come on.....

To answer the OP's question, I would replace it with the Ultra Quiet Shurflo Motorhome Water Pump 3 GPM 55 PSI RV Demand Pump.

And put a foam mat under that during install.

And make sure you don't let the hold down screws touch anything but rubber. I always put a flat washer under the head of the screws to get the full benefit of the rubber grommets in the mounts. It helps if you have flexible tubing on the inlet and outlet ports if possible.

I ordered the Shurflo, thanks Old Coot. When I install it I will be using all the little tricks, rubber mats, longer hoses, insulation. Will post results in a couple weeks.

Yes and the isolation of the pump from direct connection to your hard lines (use flex line tubing as you indicated) will quiet it right down.

Just saw this interesting video of a mod to quiet the water pump.

Seems a bit extreme, but interesting.

I'm reviving a thread but REALLY interested in this pump! Does anyone
here actually have this pump???
My new rig has the worst pump I've ever had- out of 4 other trailers.
Yes it has rubber mounts.
Yes it has flex hose in and out.
Yes I have tried to isolate some of the pex pipe in various areas.
MY pump just hammers all the pipes when it's pumping.

They really make this Shurflo Revolution sound like it's better.
And it's not a lot of bucks!!
That 3 gpm at 55 psi sounds really good too.

Just wondering if anyone here has actual before and after experience with
this one??

I couldn't wait any longer! Found it new on Ebay from a power RV parts seller for $60 with free shipping no tax.

I looked it up on Amazon and it got 4 1/2 stars with many glowing reviews.

Also ordered Chrome Oxygenics shower wand and new faucet.
REALLY looking forward to testing our shower next trip!!

So much for Amazon glowing reviews!

I got my new pump and with high expectations I went out to the trailer
and pulled out a large kitchen drawer to access the pump.
Wish I done that sooner!! The pump I bought is the EXACT same pump
in my new rig!! ARGH! The same one that pulses and shakes every
water line in the entire trailer....... The same one that claims to NOT need
a surge tank.
RATS!!

I have removed panels and drawers and accessed all the water lines I can
and either zip tied them together or to a stud or stuffed rags around them.
I've managed to stop most of the water line tapping when the pump is on.

Anyone interested in a brand new never used Shurflo Revolution
model 4000-101-A65 3 GPM 55 PSI pump, just drop me a PM...

I actually read the reviews on Amazon and then purchased the pump from
a power seller on Ebay because it was several dollars cheaper.
I can re-sell the pump on Ebay at a loss but it's very disappointing!

The pump got great reviews and I was really hoping for better!

Like I said- I crawled into every cabinet and opened every access panel
and have managed to quiet the pipes down quite a bit.
The new shower head is much better so we will just go with what
we have for now. The last place was the pipes behind the shower
faucet were tapping on the fiberglass shower wall.
That was loud and annoying. I pulled off a drain access panel under
the shower and using a broom handle managed to stuff a shop towel
in there and push the pipes away from the wall.
THAT helped immensely. If the towel stays put it is quiet for now!
Also pulled out my power center and found several feet of flex hose
coiled or rather stuffed in there going to the outside shower.
They needed a 12" hose and used a pair of 3 footers! I tied them together
with zip ties and that helped too.

For now she's pretty quiet. Fingers firmly crossed!
