Has anyone experienced a loud boom coming from underneath their trailer. I’m assuming it’s the water heater expanding but it is very loud and shakes the whole trailer. Yes it is going into shop but it only happens randomly and I don’t want the dealer to say there’s nothing wrong. Thank you for any input you can add
I've never heard a water heater expand to the point it booms and shakes the R/V!
Are you sure this isn't happening when the water heater tries to fire off on propane?
Maybe you have a spiders nest in the tube and it isn't igniting properly?
Do you have leveling rams that could be leaking and the rams are dropping a little?
It will be awfully hard for anyone to tell you what it is without experiencing it.

I had this sort of thing happen with a previous trailer several years ago. It turned out to be that when my fresh water tank was half-full to full, it would expand and contract and make a loud noise when it got to a certain point. The vent tubing was kinked. If I left the fill cap off of the tank it wouldn’t happen. After I fixed the kinked vent tubing the problem went away.

How about filling out your profile so the rest of us know what you are dealing with!
...and yes, I've seen that before and what I'v done to cure it is to reground the igniter assembly to the burner tube. The bracket for the igniter and it's attachment to the burner, nut, stud etc. with a wire toothbrush like from harbor freight. You'll most likely be loosening the flare nut and removing the gas tube as an assembly where you will also clean the pathway from any cobwebs etc. I am assuming that... yes you can hear the spark occurring and that you can see some degree of scale and corrosion on the mounting of the igniter at the burner tube where the ground connection happens, yes? Dont go nuts trying to clean the electrode, as long as its got a clean ground and in the flame you are probably good. Could be a board, but give this a shot first. Yes, this sounds like a water heater "Hard Start".
They are QUITE impressive at night.
Crud (bug debris or leaves) can partially block the flue and make an overly rich mixture of gas in and around the burner until it leans out enough to light; usually with a bang.
Look for soot marks around the door cover inside and out.
This is an unsafe condition on gas. You can still use the water heater safely on AC power ONLY (if your model supports it and has an electric heating element) until it is fixed.

Thanks for the response. It is definitely hard to pin point. Mostly seems to happen after using hot water. But it’s not a certain time after I use hot water. Sometimes the noise is faint other times it feels like the trailer got hit by something.
Right now I’m in a campground and water heater is on electric. Could there be a reason why the propane is trying trying to start. Noise is definitely coming from underneath the trailer.
Profile filled out...... but here’s some info 2019 forest river stealth 27IG. Would something that your describing shake the whole trailer? it has been happening since the first night I stayed in it.
The last time I heard a loud boom from my camper was when I backed up over a piece of rebar that punctured my tire. It went KA-BOOOOM! Then the TPMS started singing....
I agree with the others - Every once in a while I blow compressed air into the flue to clean it out. You'd be surprised at what can come out of there.

Only if you have the water heater set to propane as well as electric.
Since you're trying to locate the source of the noise... If you can do without it, I'd suggest you turn off the propane at the bottles and see if that eliminates the noise.
Then you can start trying the other suggestions to narrow down the possibilities. Then you might want to take it to the dealer under warranty.
