Remove the pressure in the system first. Mine are hard to turn when the pressure is on.

Mine were tight like that the first time.. but they do come apart try again the most you can do is break it and then you can do the fixes everyone is suggesting..

Thanks to all of you who posted. I did finally get them to break loose, after I opened all the faucets, etc. and released the pressure. I am going to take the advice of replacing the current set-up with the fittings/1/4 valve set-up. Where they put these things, I had to stand on my head basically to access them! With no man around the house, I sure love having such forums to refer to! Thanks again! :-)
