Low Pressure on Pump

So I am curious if any of you have experienced this...
When I run the water pump I have a surge of normal water pressure, then it slows to a very low flow.
If I am at the pump I can see that on the intake side, at the small screen filter, it appears that it can't pull the water fast enough from the tank. Meaning it fills the bowl to pressure, but as soon as a valve (sink or other) is opened it just can't pull it up as fast as it pumps out. I blew the tank line out before the winter, plus fully drained. Of course drained first then blew out.

Has anyone encountered this? Almost seems to be getting a little air in the line?

See if there is any dirt in the sediment filter before the pump. The top unscrews. I had to clean junk from mine. Also as a thought, when was the last time the water filter was changed. I do mine once a year. If I forget, water pressure will fall off.

Did that... perfectly clean, looks brand new. Thats where I can see the water coming in at what I think is a slow rate.

Spitting air and water or just a slow flow of water..... no spitting?

Referring to the water as it enters the pump filter bowl with the clear screw on top... It does not appear to be pulling any air. No bubbles or gurgling, just water leaving faster than it can fill. Maybe getting some air from the cap? I don't want to over tighten and crack it.

I have had problems with pump priming, but once it starts or primes, no problem. This especially happens after each time draining and blowing out lines with compressed air.

My last coulpe of times this has worked for me.

Fill system on the city water hook up side. Purge air out at each faucet and purge air out of water heater at relief valve.

Now fill fresh tank...

Turn on pump...

Open a faucet .... alternate others open ....

Not sure if this is just purging all air, resetting a check valve at pump, or both. But it seems to work for me.

Check the selector winterizing tank/antifreeze inlet valve. If it's part way into the "Tank" position it might be choking off tank supply and possibly sucking air through the antifreeze inlet.
