Low Water Pressure

Flagstaff 33' 5th wheel. I checked my city pressure with the guage installed after the standard blue inline filter and a 55psi regulator. The reading is 55psi. I connect to the city inlet. Flow at any fauscet is good for about a second. After that it falls off to a trickle. I plumbed around the factory filter so that's not an issue. I have changed the blue inline filter. No help. If I remove the inline filter and regulator the pressure goes up to 65psi. Good flow at all faucets but I'm afraid 65 psi is too high. Thoughts.

You need a new pressure regulator. They don't last forever.

Have you check faucets aerators for debris restricting flow?

Y'all will shoot me, but I pretty much stopped putting in a regulator about 30 campgrounds ago.

Even with that, some are awful. KOA in Cheyenne WY has about 3 psi, I think...........

You have a low-flow pressure regulator. Keep in mind that you have to different things; Pressure and flow rate.

The pressure regulator limits the maximum pressure and many regulators have poor flow rates. I would recommend getting a high-flow pressure regulator.

This site did some reviews/tests of some of the common regulators as well.

As I said in my post, there are two different things; Pressure and flow rate.

Water pressure regulators regulate pressure. Some provide higher flow rates than others while still limiting the max pressure. Others cause problems with flow due to their design (orifice too small, etc), which results in limiting max pressure with zero flow and then causes a large pressure drop due to low flow rate.

Hmmm. OK.

Well, it's pressure I want most of............I can deal with most flows.

Pressure and flow are directly related downstream from the regulator. You say you can deal with most flows...

What if you had a static PSI of 50 and a flow rate of 0.5GPM? Good pressure, horrible flow. That translates into low pressure and flow when you open a faucet because the regulator isn't flowing enough to maintain the pressure. This is why a high-flow pressure regulator is good to have, it's able to maintain pressure at higher flow rates compared to other regulators.

But you don't use a regulator, so this is moot to you. Hope this clarifies things a little, though.

I guess if I had that scenario, I'd rethink. In 65 stops so far, I've not had that issue. I have had low water pressure in shower, which I work to avoid. I've not had too much pressure anywhere.

It seems to work

Thanks for the responces. I purchased the Camco
40055 regulator. Seems to work fine. Don't know if my old one was bad or the wrong type. I have been educated . Thanks again.
