Max water PSI SAFE ? with regulator

We have a 2007 Salem 392PT FLFB and we are connected to a water source 99% of the time. The regulator that the trailer came with gives a very weak shower pressure, we would like to get it to the same as when the pump is on or better. What is the max PSI a trailer like this can take and still be safe ( We dont wanna pop any hoses ) not like anyone does =). We want to get an adjustable regulator and just put it on the max safe setting. If anyone has any suggestions or tips please let me know, we want to take nice showers and not have to stand under the shower head haha =)

ditch the cheapy you got from teh dealer
get a WATTS pressure regulator with gauge about 60 bux
from camping world

its all brass, cleanable and you can adjust incoming pressure to a good setting.
we run 55 psi and it seems to work fairly well and is just above the pump cutoff pressure.
connect it at the hose bib then your water hose then connect the hse to your rig, that way the hose is protected to

and.... you may go through your rv and remove all the low flow devices they put in every faucet and shower head, it helps as well to get a good flow for a shower

about every three months you need to diassemble it and clean it out and check the rubber diaphram

Well we don't want you missing a good shower! I agree with Power, a good regulator will improve things. Generally houshold water pressure is 40 PSI and it should be roughly what the campground pump is putting out, matching that would be good. I don't trust the trailer plumbing to handle much more than 40.

It's funny that they don't specify the pressure in the Owners Manual. (if it does, I can't find it!)

I have a cheapie regulator as well, but pulled it off and tossed it. It just limits the pressure too much for me.

You will lose a certain amount of PSI from your spigot to your faucet.
Each bend in the hose, the hose itself, any splitters, filters, etc will drop the pressure. In the Fire Dept, we call it Friction Loss. You simply lose pressure because of the friction of the water flowing across the inside of the hose and through any other limiting devices.

If you put a regulator on the spigot, and have it set at 40 PSI...it doesn't mean that's what you have coming out of the shower head...that's for sure!
Think of all the bends in the pipe between that regulator and the shower head. All the flow restrictors, screens, reducers, splitters, that big coil of hose laying on the ground, and such dropping that pressure along the way.

you mentioned filter.... the big water filter installed in a lot of the larger FR trailers really screws with the water pressure.

Friends of owers have a Jayco, there water filter is connected just to there kitchen sink,they don't seem to have a problem with water pressure in the rest of there camper. I removed my filter element after the first camping trip due to the lack of pressure.

Yeah, I've never installed my filter cartridge, in part because I had heard it adversly effects water pressure and in part because the friggin things are way too expensive to replace. Our campground water supply is very good anyway.

yep thats the baby right there
and FWIW i have the whole house water filter 2 micron element installed and it only effects water flow when its full of junk
i have used botht eh carbon and the media filter. both work quite well and cartridges are very affordable at home depot or lowes , under 5 bux for two and they last about 4 months depending on campgrounds.
here at home its very clean and soft water so they last a longgggg time
but in alabama it was every month due to sand and junk
i personally would never run water in i drink without at least a 1 or 2 micron filter element, to much crap gets dumped and the knuckle head that had the site last ...who knows what he hooked to the hose bib, i have seen it all from sewer hoses being flushed at the bib to you name it.

K i got an adjustable one now, im seeing 2 different PSIs on this thread tho, 40 and 55 ? whats safe whats not also

is this PSI with the water already running inside the trailer or with everything off? whats the best way to go with that?

Right now i have it set to 53 PSI with the water off (inside trailer of course) but it drops down to 42 - 43 when the water is on.

Mine came(watts) factory set for 50 psi and that's where I left it. Make sure you ALWAYS us it. We were camped at a place with 160psi!!! Yup, they warned you at check in about the pressure. And they were right. Bent my little ole pressure gauge that reads up to 100psi like it was a pretzel. Now I have one that reads 160psi. Did a number on my cheapie hose, I now have hoses that are good up to about 150psi. Reason my hose took a hit was I like to put my whole house regulator up by the tt not at the water pedistal. Less chance of it growing legs while we are away.

Crazy but very true!! Replaced my cork screwed psi gauge with one that goes to 160psi and it went right up to the max.
As I said, at least they did warn everybody of the extreme pressures.

You may also want to look at the lenght and diameter of your hose. The shorter the better and the thicker the better.

The accepted standard for water pressure is 40-65 PSI. Most city water pressure is around 50-60 PSI. But campgrounds can vary it is on a well from--- well just about any pressure they can get away with.

As stated, purchase a good adjustable pressure regulator with a gage, set your pressure at 55 PSI. At this pressure you will be covered for your RV.

I was in a CG in Forsyth, GA that the pressure was 95 PSI, it not only blew the hose out of the connection on the side of my RV (brand new) but also ruptured a new fresh hose. I did not have a regulator at the time,
but you can bet your bippy I have an adjustable regulator now.
The workers at the CG stated, "we get our water from the city of Forsyth"
RV ers are always complaining about too much water pressure.

Well DUH, install a regulator at the water entrance to the park BUBBA!
