I am not sure when it was broke off. I just bought the camper a few weeks ago. I don't really think the old owner knew any better that it was missing. Maybe if I bang on the bottom of the tank I can hear it bouncing if it is in there?

Might have to get one of those cameras / scope to run down in the tank to see if you can find it. If it is down there, and does get lodged in the discharge pipe.....pretty much what youroo said.
