Need help with potable tank fill...
I am fairly new to owning a TT, and another RV'er told me all I had to do to add a bleach-water solution to the fresh water tank was to remove the screen and stick a funnel into the opening to add the bleach-water solution. I did that and found that there is a check-valve in the way that does not allow anything to enter the fresh water tank. Is this the way it should be? I have no other way to sanitize the fresh water tank, or do I? And, yes I was using the fresh water tank connection, not the city water connection. They are both identical in construction. Thanks for any help.....

Pour the bleach solution into your hose before you connect it to the trailer. Connect and then turn on water to fill and it will push the solution into your tank.

Thank you all who responded. I did get my plumbing and winterizing issues solved by taking the TT to a friend here in Asheville who owns a campground and repair facility. He was able to help me go over all the issues. We were abl to find the water pump under the bed, with NO access to it unless the plywood cover is removed from the bed. I am in the process of cutting a strip of the plywood off and installing a continuous (piano) hinge, so that the area can be accessed easily. There also was NO winterizing kit installed on my TT, so I got a PVC fitting with a barb and 4-feet of clear vinyl tubing, which I can install on the intake port of the pump to suck in the anti-freeze for winterizing—learning a lot as I go and this forum is an excellent resource. Thanks again, y'all.

MOST RV's come with a gravity fill connection, which is basically a hole with a cap connected to a fill hose. See pic below. The tank vent hose also attaches to the side, so you'll see a small screened hole next to the main fill hole (lower right side in the pic below, about 4 o'clock). This is probably what your RV'er figured you had. Newer RV's (usually larger ones, it seems like) are starting to come with a fill connection that you can screw a hose to OR have a line and a valve from the city water connection. These hose connections usually have the check valve that you discovered.
An easy way to add the bleach is to pour it into your fill hose, then screw your fill hose to the tank fill connection and let'er rip.

And where do you fill afresh water tank on a new Roo? I've tried everything, and the water won't go in the tank!

On my 2012 Roo, I had separate valves for my FW tank suction and my anti-freeze suction. So I hooked the hose to my anti-freeze suction and opened both valves and it filled the FW tank. You have to be careful and do it slowly so you don't blow up the tank.
My Mini-Lite has a single 3-way valve, so I don't think I can do this trick anymore. I don't know if the new Roo's are using the 2 single valves or the 3-way, but if you have the 2 single valves, you can do my trick.
PS: You might want to add your year and model Roo in your signature so people can better answer your questions.

Ok, so I did it fine last summer, and now I seem to have forgotten how I did it, or its just not working. I have a 2016 Roo with a city water connection, and an anti- freeze connection side by side. Last year I had trouble finding the switch on the pump, and this time I've tried the switch in both positions. The control panel inside has a button to check the freshwater level, and it says low, and does not fill any higher. I have blue tubes, and white striped tubes for water, and I try to follow where they go, but I'm not sure what I am looking at.

Since I am looking at putting some kind of water inlet valve/plug into the top of my potable water tank, can I just install a gravity fill connection like the one in post #5 of this thread and seal it good with silicone sealer or synthetic plumber's putty without the oil in it? Thanks.....

I was googling them trying to see if she has a gravity fill, but didn't find any pics close enough. There might be one just to the right of the hot water heater, but I'm not sure.

You haven't responded concerning whether you have a gravity fill connection or not. It will look like the one in post 5, but is probably black. When you remove the cover, there will be no thread for a hose fitting. There will be a small meshed hole on the side for the vent. This is what you are expected to use to fill. You will need to fill it slowly. Stick the end of your hose into the hole and fill slowly.

If you have no gravity fill, then you should have a valve from the city water connection that bypasses the water pump and goes to the FW tank.
But I'm very surprised if you don't have a gravity fill. My 2016 Mini Lite has one. Since folks are more likely to boondock in your TT than mine, I'd expect a gravity fill.
