camper1999,,,
Is the reason you can't smell it because you use unscented bleach ???
I used something other than regular bleach once,,, never again !!!

I use 1/4 cup bleach for every 15 gals., run water through all taps, even outside shower and hot water tank. Let sit for 24 hours and drain then rinse twice. I don't trust whole house filters and I have one. A couple of years go while camping in a camp ground, where we've camped before, I got "beaver fever" just brushing my teeth with the campground water. I lost 20 lbs in 12 days. Not a whole lot of fun. I have 2, 50 gal, collapsible, potable water containers that I use the bleach in also. If you experience the bad smelling hot water while showering, drain the tank and put bleach in the tank via the drain hole, fill with water, let stand for a few hours, drain, refill and rinse, refill and you should be good to go. By filling your fresh water tank when using bleach, you don't have to drive around. Do your maintenance and you shouldn't have a problem. We travel with tank 1/3 full for pit stops along the way.

One thing no one has touched on is the metal strainer on the pump inlet. After all this flushing and sanitizing check for plastic pieces in this strainer. Shavings from manufacturing can clog this and if they get to the pump could damage the impeller.
