Newbie Hook Up Question?
Hi all, City Water is where I hook up my white hose for potable water.
On the opposite side of my trailer there is this fitting..
.
What is it and how do I connect anything to it as it appears to not accept a normal hose.

Yep, that's where you fill the fresh water tank.

So the tank doesn't automatically fill when hooked to city water?

depending on the unit it may not/ may also depend if bypass valves are activated or not.

I doubt if any of them "automatically" fill. There's no need/requirement to have a full fresh water tank if you're hooked to city water. Those with a single input connection usually have an operator selectable valve - so not automatic.

Appears that your dealer gave you a lousy PDI, as this is a basic thing that a good PDI should cover.

as side note for you that little screen next to the fill is the overflow. water poors out there when full. Somewhere below you will have the drain for the tank and low point drains for the lines.

When you first take it out camping, even after researching all the stuff, talk to the other campers. Most are a friendly lot, and are more than happy to show you what everything is and how it all works. We have all been there at one time, and I always felt it is more embarrassing to not know, than to know.
Pop a cold beer, and you will probably have half the campers there helping you....

Since it appears your dealer did a poor job during PDI. Here are a few basic tips.
1. You should sanitize the FW system before using ti the first time and at the beginning of each camping season. Just search for sanitizing water system on forum
2. If you have a city water hookup on site, connect to city water connection Do Not use water pump
3. If you do not have water hook up on site, fill water tank at campground water supply before pulling into your site by using FW tank fill ( not city water connection(. You can also do at your site if you have sufficient hose to reach the water connection. Now you need water pump.
4. Be sure the WH is full before turning it on. You can open safety valve or hot water faucet until water comes out.
5. Recommend you drain FW tank and WH between trips unless you are going back out in a week or so.
6. Check anode on WH at the end of each season. Acidic water can consume the rod fairly quickly and impact its ability to do its job.
7. It is a good idea to use a simple inline filter on the water supply hose both when filling FW tank and using city water.
8 If using city water on site, you should add a pressure regulator to prevent excessive water pressure damage to RV water system.

Furious:
Here's a "generic" plumbing diagram. Probably covers 90% of rigs.
You should have an anti-freeze fill connection, also, for winterizing your TT.

I think it's amazing they put a warning sticker there warning of electric not dawning on them that it was right under water inlet.
I would definitely get them to move one of them to one side or other so they are not directly over each other

Add 2a. Put some water in the fresh water tank. You never know when the park's water system will fail. Nice to be able to flush the toilet
