OOPS, I dropped a spoon in the toilet, how do I get it out.
So, you ask, how did I drop a spoon in the toilet?
I wash my dishes in a rubbermaid tub, then I dump the water down the toilet. This way, my tanks fill up evenly and it adds liquid to the toilet. Well, I didn't know I still had a spoon in there when I dumped the water. It's a regular eating spoon. I turned the water off and looked with a flashlight, I can see it down there. I tried using a "picker upper" tool, can't seem to get it. Should I go to an RV dealer and have them get it out?

If it is a metal spoon you could tie a magnet to a string, or tape it to a broom handle and pick it right up. That is what I would do. I suspect the dealer will charge you an arm and leg to get it out. Most hardware stores and bigbox stores sell a magnetic telescoping device if you dont want to make your own.
Good luck,
SPPD

If it's Chinese stainless steel you will be able to get it with a magnet, will you use it again??? I don't think I could.

If you can see it and get something like a broom stick down to it, take some duct tape (very sticky) and tape it to the broom stick with the sticky side out. Poke it down there and grab it.

I would sell the RV.
Ok...probably not. But that was the first answer I thought of....

Flexible magnets are available at most auto parts stores. However once you hook up and drive home, The spoon may move. At worst, remove the toilet and reach down to retrieve it.

I went to the hardware store, there was a telescoping magnet, but it was on a slanted pole, not a straight one. I bought a "grabber" tool, it didn't work. I finally just stuck my hand down there, and retrieved it. I should have worn gloves, but I couldn't feel it with gloves on.
Spoon has been bleached.

Some times you just have to man up and "getter done".

Arm was bleached, too! And soap and water and Chlorox wipes, whatever I could find. And anything I touched was bleached. YICH!
But on the good side, I had run a lot of water down the toilet, rinsed, ran more water, rinsed, before I reached down there. My RV is fairly new. It wasn't bad. And now i know I can stick my hand all the way down to the bottom, not that I ever want to do that again.....

Are you going to the Goshen rally? If so, I'll just watch for the guy whose DW can't stop laughing!

"So, you ask, how did I drop a spoon in the toilet?"
Actually, I learned not to ask questions I might not want to hear the answer to. ;-)
Glad you were able to do an extraction and will be surprised if the DW will let you in bed any time soon.

I...don't think I'd have the rocks to even post that thread, not to mention the fix.
