Outdoor Shower Hose Connection Issue

I purchased a 2015 Chaparral 29BHS in March and I've had issues with connecting the outdoor shower hose to the connector in the docking station. I took it to the dealer and they said there was debris that was preventing the connector from working correctly (It won't slide back far enough to insert the hose end). Once they cleaned it connected for fine for a couple of trips, but now its doing the same thing. Instead of taking it back to the dealer (major inconvenience) I would like to take the connector off myself to see if it needs cleaning. However, I'm not sure if there is any trick to removing the connector. I don't want to screw it up. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
