Pex tubing question

So I was preparing for de winterizing the camper today--I flipped all my winterizing valves back over to their "service" positions. Here's the issue: when I flipped one of the valves on the HWH, the whole valve "spun" on the pex tubing. Like, here's a section of pex, then the valve with the metal pex clamp, and then another section of pex with the clamp, and the whole valve/fitting can spin on the 2 pieces of pex. Is this normal, or is this sucker gonna leak like a sieve when I run water through it? I've never assembled anything with pex tubing, so I'm not sure how it supposed to act.

Did it leak before you went to winterize it?

Could you reach the ftting with a pair loppers or hedge clippers? Meaning that if you can reach it you can clamp it then go ahead a get a pex tool and new clamps. See my misc album for what I did. I am not plumber by trade but stick with the crimp style clamps that look like a wedding band (1/2" apollo pro crimp APXCR12LT) and brass not plastic fitting (like apollo APXE121210K).

It is very very easy to work with, the only thing is that once a joint is made it cannot be salvaged. Think about how pvc pipe is scraficed in length when you replace something.

The Shark Bites work amazingly well. I had to some mods to the plumbing when I removed the onboard water filter, and it was a real tight spot to work in, so made getting pex tools in there difficult. RV tech I spoke to said to use the Shark Bites, thats all he uses now when doing plumbing repairs, quick and simple, and they hold really well.

As crazy as it sounds, its normal. According to a plumber I know, they spin a little more when cold, but shouldn't leak. Warmer temps tighten them up. Hope I answered your question.

Interesting! Thats why i was asking if they leaked before he went to winterize it.

I always check to see if the system will hold pressure using my air compressor set around 40psi. I don't have anything to clean up if air leaks out.

To be on the (Safe/Dry) side use (Regulated AIR) instead of WATER for your Test! Yes some Pex fitting turn and do Not leak,but some DO leak? Youroo!!

The pex in my rv and my home will spin and I have never had a leak.

It did not leak during usage last year nor when I winterized it in November. Let's hope it is due to the cold as has been suggested. Testing it with air once I get to FL is a great idea. Thanks!

I just hook and to it and let it sit while doing something else. If there is even a small leak, the compressor will kick on at some point to refill tank. If never comes on. All good
