Seems like a lot of great ideas here for people to prep for winter camping using the water tank. I would agree the us of heat tape on the suction tube and on the tank outlet should do it. The furnace ducts in my trailer leak like crazy dumping heat in the basement and underbelly. Is it just possible the furnace is not running enough, due to electric heaters being used, to dump heat in the recesses of the trailer?

Water Freezing

I am full timing in Northern NJ and I find that on a cold windy night the line from the tank to the pump freezes and not the tank. Usually when the temp comes back up over 20dg the line thaws out. Try to insulate the feed line to the pump. Someone may have mentioned this but I didn't read all the posts. Frank

The symptoms are similar to ours recently. Turns out we had air in the system because I filled too rapidly trying to get out of snow & wind. Went back out and let the fill hose go slowly and the air belched back through the overflow and when only water came out overflow, problem solved.

Sounds like your doing everything right.

I think all that remains is for you to find an area that is not addressed with the heat tape. It could be a single elbow in the line that is freezing up. All you can do is get under the unit and make sure everything from the tank outlet to the sink is wrapped in heat tape.

Sounds like you have a fun project. You get to play detective.

Vin.

I have a 106 gallon tank and they only had a 60 gallon pad. So i put it on and worked good for 1 night and now its back to sputtering and stopping and no water. Filled my tank so i know i have water in there. Please help we need water and camping ground wont let us connect hose other than to fill tanks, then have to disconnect. I have even tried using hot water in the winterization tube of the pump to try and defrost things and not helping. I think it is the pick-up tube in the tank. Any thought or ideas are very welcome. When connected to city water everything works great only when off city water.
