Plugged Toilet

Water standing in toilet - will not flush - flush valve opens. If black tank valve is opened and tank flush run, clear water comes out drain valve so I assume tank drain is not plugged.

Tried snake down toilet, tried plunger, tried water pressure. Nothing seems to help. 8285WS 2008 Thetford Tiolet

Isn't it just a straight drop into the tank from the toilet? I would think that if you use the sani flush and clear water is running out that the pipe from the tank to the outlet is clear and the blockage is obviously from the toilet to the tank, I would suggest to put on the gloves and dig in.

I concur. Nasty as it sounds, you're going to have to get a stick and stir it up from the toilet.

I read somewhere on a forum that someone had one of those black tank cleaners installed (two of them) and one of the cleaners was installed right under the pipe from the toilet to the tank and chunky stuff and TP got hung up on it. They had to remove it to get a clear shot into the tank.

Yes it looks like a 3" pipe almost straight to the tank - cannot figure out what is blocking it - Will continue with a snake for now. Next choice is to pull the toilet.

I'm having the same problem with my 8289WS. When I snake it it gets caught on something at the top of the tank. It's not plugged now, and liquids go down fine. But the minute toilet paper goes down, you can hear the pipe start to fill up.

Finally took a 1/2" stick about 5' long and beat on it very hard. Whatever it was it was very hard. Now I will wait for whatever it was to plug the tank drain.

Thanks - Don

It could be the plug from when they cut the hole in the tank and did/do not bother to fish it out.

Some time the plug gets stuck at the tank drain hole.

the 8289 has an elbow at the bottom them attaches to the tank, not sure if it is a 45 and a 90 or 2 45's. Mine is clear just flush with lots of water before dumping to make sure it is clear.
