Poor draining black tank

I have a 2011 Rockwood Roo 23RS with a 30 gallon black water tank. The dump connection is on the side of the tank and there isn't a tilt to the tank to get things to drain well. So my experience is that even after draining there is 2" of sludge left in the tank. I've even tried to put blocks under one side of the trailer to get a tilt to the tank but with the lip around the drain connection there is still 1" of sludge.

This really caused a stink early in our recent, very hot road trip. I changed chemical brands and started putting the chemical in right after dumping rather than towing all day and puttig it in when setting up camp and it helped, but I'm still disturbed by the sludge I can never drain.

Is this just "normal" and I should just leave chemical in the tank always and add plenty of anti-freeze for winter? (my previous trailer had different tanks which drained better). Thanks.

After dumping I always add about 2 gallons of H2O and the blue stuff. I will empty it again at home to get rid of the any thing the trip may have agitated lose, add 2 more gallons and more blue stuff.

Make sure all users know to flush plenty with solids and if you are at a full hookup site open the valves once enough liquid has built up to carry as much effluents as possible.

Thanks Arefbee. Sounds like I'm on the right track. I've also noticed that the sensor is always saying 2/3 full so I went ahead and purchased the wand you linked and I think I'll give it a good fall wash out at the end of the season in hopes of getting things in better shape.

Any other helpful hints?
