Portable Water Pump

Can anyone recommend a portable water pump that could be used to transfer fresh water from an external water tank into the fresh water tank of the TT?

Applying for a seasonal camp site this year and if we happen to get one will need a way to refill the fresh water tank. Usually the water supply source isn't close enough to drag a hose to.

Thanks

What kind of power are you going to have available?
Do you want a 12 volt pump, a 110 volt pump, or a manual hand crank pump?
There are very effective, inexpensive transfer pumps that you can crank or hook a drill to available at farm stores.

Why not just get a RV water pump?

We'll have access to 110 or 12v, so either will work. That is a good idea to check with a farm supply outfit here. No shortage of those in these parts.

I was thinking of a RV pump but figured it would have been more costly than that.

Was just wondering what pumps have worked well for others and which ones haven't worked out so well.

Thanks guys I'll look into the suggestions you have provided.

I run the same water pump as my 5er has that way I have a spare !! I run a + and - jumper wires with alligator clips to the RV or truck batteries but I find it easer to pull the truck up next to the RV and siphon the water out with hose

I have one like camper1999. I got my pump at Harbor Freight. It is listed for pumping 300 GPH. Think I paid about $35-$40 for it.

I got mine from Harbor Freight also. I bought the 12 volt model and I hook it up to the camper battery or I hook it up to my Jump Start Battery that I take along. I have 3 water jugs that are 6 gallons each so I don't have to make so many trips.

I like that 7 pin to 12 volt outlet adapter. Did you make that or buy it from somewhere?

More then likely you have a SURFLO water pump installed in the unit. I would buy the exact same model # and make it also 12V. That way you will have a spare plus use it for a transfer pump. The difference in SURFLO is rated by the number of fixtures that has to be supplied that will equal out to the GPM that you will need.

We bought a small stainless pump from north tools, slips into our external 35 gal tank and takes about 10 min to transfer water, we love it, it is 12v.

I got a 12v marine water pump to transfer water from containers into fresh water tanks....I use the same filter and hose that I hook up to spigot .... that way will catch any stuff from the pump or wherever before it goes into tank.....I carry a battery in the basement that I use for it or the inverter.....good luck

Just as a followup some federal parks will not let you hook to the community spigot with a hose, but I can run a 50 ft hose from intake side of pump to a can/bucket under the spigot and a 25 ft hose with filter hooked to outlet side of pump.....and not have to lug the cans around.....to fill fresh water tank.....

I bought mine at princess auto approx $40. It has external threads on both ends, therefore you need to get a washing machine hose ( internal threads both ends ) to adapt to the inlet side of pump (12 volt). works great!
