Possible water heater check valve location
Wmtire, since you brought up Suburban water heaters, is the check valve on the back of the tank on the cold or hot line & is its intended to keep the hot water from going back into the cold line? The reason I am asking is because the Heartland manual said it was on the hot line. Thank you for the help. One other question, if this check valve fails what would be the symptoms?

Uhhh, not sure where I brought up water heaters unless you are referring to the copy and paste links I provided.
I'm going to split your topic off to it's own thread.
Not all water heaters have a check valve. It all depends how the manufacturer plumbed it. Many heaters have a three valve system, which will not have any check valve in it.
Read this entire thread, which may help:

You are correct, where I picked it up from & since I have read your article, thank you, you have answered my question, because I have a three valve system.

For others who may not be aware:
There are at least 7 versions of bypass valve arrangements that I am aware of. See page 2 of the attached.
