Propane Issues
I have had several occasions where I am switching between a empty or almost empty tank and then my systems will not run. We have a 2011 Flagstaff 8528RKWS. I wanted to heat up the camper today to work on my sound system rebuild. It is a cold New England day around 15 to 20 outside. The heater would not turn on. After tapping on the tank and looking at the indicator on the transfer switch it was RED. So I switched tanks gave the other tank a tap and could tell it was full. The indicator was still red and the heater would not run. I turned off the heater and the indicator turned green. I lit the stove the indicator went red and the stove flame went down. After messing with it I figured that there must be a issue with the full tank so I refilled the empty and put it in place. Indicator was green. The stove lit and burned for a bit so I started the heat. It lit but the indicator never turned red. As soon as I shut off the heat it turns green. I am still covered for another 15 months and figure I will bring it back to the dealer but thought I would run it buy the forum and see if I am missing something simple.

Sounds like a bad regulator or maybe the bottles are over filled. But I would bet bad regulator.

There are some built in safety precautions with the propane system so that it will not (or should not) allow gas to escape at a high rate in case of a line failure. Make sure that all gas appliances are off before slowing turning on a tank. If there is not pressure on the line, there is a safety mechanism that will limit flow.
Read about the "flow limiting device" about 2/3s of the way down the page here: http://www.motleyrvrepair.com/propan...ty_and_use.htm

X2 on opening the tank slowly. I'm sure I'm safer with the new LP tanks, but I prefer the old ones. Less hassle.

I had to replace one of the hoses from the tank to the regulator cause it caused something similar to what you describe.
the hose is called - Propane Acme Flexible Pigtail Hoses
Its about a $15 part - by far cheaper then the gas it costs in taking it to the dealer to have it fixed under warranty

We had 2 replacement regulators on our 2011 Rockwood and I finally replaced it myself with a regulator from Marshall. I also replaced the hoses from the tanks to the regulator.

Just a little food for thought
The Regulator is $55 - (can always keep it as a spare if it doesnt fix the problem)
Pig Tails are about $15 each
on Camping world Website
Cost of Gas to fill up the TV and take camper to the Dealer depending on how far you live - I know for me it's atleast $100

X3 -- Had to replace the pigtail because of a leak in the hose. Other than smelling propane when we turned on the 'gas' we didn't experience any problems. Cheap fix, but was surprised to replace this part within the first year of ownership.

Wally...I've had the exact, same problems you're talking about. Ended up that I was opening the propane valve too fast. I reopened very, very slowly (about a minute to open the valve) and then all was good. Easy enough to try before you start replacing regulators, pigtails and such.
Good luck with it

aaaahhhhhhh? It was about 15-20 degrees outside? DUH? IT'S TOOO COLD!
Propane doesn't flow well when it cold! We had the same problem... the tanks need to warm up some. Add a 60 watt light bulb under the gas tank cover... or take the tanks inside the house or garage for awhile to warm up. We found that our RV and propane BBQ grill DO NOT work in really cold weather.
