I only use the liquid Calgon Water Softener. The powder one will work if it is the Water Softener and not the soap one. Several excellent threads here about why.

The powder Galgon softener can be hard to find in some areas so feel free to use the liquid. I've used both.

"We don't number "2" in our camper one less thing to deal with.
we've done this for years and anyone in and around my camper knows it.
Since I "deal" with it its my rules!"
With just number "1" in the black tank, just water should do the trick for you and save the $ for Calgon.

Seriously, the problem with "odds are" is that your experience may differ.
Risk management is NOT about taking risks. It is about weighing what "bad" that could happen against the gain you would get if it goes as you hope.
If you are comfortable that accepting the risk that there won't be a tank retention failure your very next trip out is worth years of getting away with it; then your risk management is "right on."
If not, then you need to rerun the risk/reward analysis until you are.
Risk mitigation can also be used. In this example, dropping the belly covers and examining the welds may be all that is necessary to let you feel comfortable continuing the practice.
Finding a cracked weld may change your mind.

Like I said, there is no choice. There is no place to dump the tanks until I get back to town. I am boondocking 95% of the time, 50 miles from the nearest dump station or town. I guess I will take the last 25 years experience and take the risk.

Gotta love how things get more cheaply made, yet the cost goes up...

f1100turbo, my DW came from a family of 4 girls (no boys)and of course her mother and none of the 4 daughters to this day(oldest 78, youngest 69) (mother passed on) put tp in the stool. They all put it in a garbage can. In the camper, I even go along with the practice. We use it for 1 & 2 only, no tp. DW always lines the garbage can with Wally World sacks and ties a knot in the bag and puts it in a larger can. Even does it at home where my tp goes down the drain. Guess it is hard to break her upbringing.

X2. I told my DW and kids if they want to number "2", they can take over the stinky slinky.

First off, why the attitude? I have a currently made unit and have been under it from front to back plenty. The trailer I sold to buy this one was a 2008 model. Here is the deal. Most people in Wyoming boondock. Personally I don't care to camp in campgrounds. There is no available dumping stations where I camp or within 50 miles of where I camp. Period. Not quite sure why that is so hard to understand? If I am not going to use the tanks on it I might as well sell it and go back to a tent. In the meantime I will continue to do what I always have and not loose sleep at night worrying about my tanks falling off or breaking.

Absolutely no attitude!
Was just saying in not so many words that there's been in the not so distant past of tank mounts or holders failing on these newer units. Do a search.
A guys last week was sliding back and forth in his unit.
Like herk said maybe you check it out.
Its all good!

I have checked it out. It is more substantial than my last trailer. My last trailer had a 100 gallon water tank, 50 gallon black and 50 gallon grey in addition to a 36 gallon fuel tank. My current trailer is roughly half of that with no fuel tank. Again, unless I tent camp, I don't have a choice so I will go with my experience as well as others in my area.
