Replacing whole RV water filter

We have a new Columbus fifth wheel. I am trying to install the water filter and can't for the life of me loosen the canister. I dont
want to break the plastic canister and I am bending the wall it is mounted to. Eventually I am replacing the filter system but for now I just want to get this filter in there. Any tips or tricks? Thanks.

If you are using enough force to tweak the wall stop!

Just get an inline filter and us it.

It's a pretty flimsy wall. Doesn't take much. Guess I'll get the new filter system sooner than later.

Good, sooner the better for you and your unit...

I was concerned you may crack the head or the canister and not notice it until it was to late.

If it is a factory installed filter...
Try pushing upwards (towards the mounting head) on the canister before turning.

Most folks don't realize the head has teeth and the canister has tabs.
Pushing up on the canister releases the contact of the teeth/tabs so it can be loosened.

Conversely, when installing, twist until aligned and pull down on the canister slightly to lock the teeth/tabs in place.

A small dab of silicone grease around the o-ring seal makes the process a whole lot easier.

Replacing whole RV water filter

Relieving the water pressure is the key!
Once relived
That filter housing will unscrew easily.
When reinstalling DO NOT tighten housing, just align the arrows and the tab.

If used correctly this housing and filter are great!

People that do not know how the system works tell you to just throw it away and buy something else.
