RV antifreeze, direct pump or fresh tank?
first time winterizing here. Ive already been advised to get the hose fitting that I can install on the suction side of the pump and put the hose stright into the antifreeze jug. My question is, if I dont want to screw around with the pump, what are the downsides to simply dumping a few gallins into the fresh tank and pumping from there?
thanks in advance! 😬

You will never get it all out of the fresh water tank. Will affect your water taste for a long time. BAD IDEA.

Takes a lot more antifreeze, but you will never get it out as mentioned. The FW tank drain is set up such that it will not completely empty the tank so you are always diluting.

Dont use the fresh tank. Then you will have to sanitiize it, unless you plan to never drink water out of it. Install a bypass and be done with it
Unfortunatly, being a RV owner means you are screwing around with it one way or the other. If you plan on keeping it for awhile, its a worthwhile investment at $25

Like everyone else said. Install the kit on the pump.

Even if you still want to pour it in the tank I highly doubt if you water tank is completely empty so you need consider the dilution and add even more antifreeze then guess what the new freeze point is. Not worth it in my opinion.

Actually very easy to winterize. Or, as a friend of ours was quoted by a dealer, $100 to have theirs winterized. They opted to learn for themselves.
Install the adapter, and once you see how easy it is to winterize, you'll be glad you did for the next upcoming year. Also best to learn the whereabouts and the workings of the water pump as well.....you never know when an emergency repair situation will arise. And it's usually never close to home!

The more you can learn about your unit, the less chance of maybe having someone else fix it.

Don't forget to let antifreeze come out the low point drains and city water connection. Also outside shower if you have it.

The pink stuff flushes well out of the PEX lines. The FW tank, not so much. Chances are you'll never get all the pink stuff out of the FW tank and your FW will smell and taste like propylene glycol for some time to come.
