Sewer cutoff on new 5er.
My neighbor purchased a new Hideout 5er and the large drain from the bath does not have a cutoff. It runs straight into the cap. I will be getting photos to show this. I believe the cutoff valve was not installed at all. I know this is not a FR camper but I also know many people read it. He purchased it at Holiday World.
Any help?

If I'm reading you correctly you are saying there is no valve prior to the main sewer outlet? so if gray is present it will flow when the sewer cap is removed? A pic would be nice.

There is a valve somewhere, sometimes hard to find. Get under the trailer on look really good.

Is this Hideout considered a destination R/V?
I've seen two 'cottage' type R/Vs where the grey did NOT have a valve as they were designed to be permanently plumbed.

Sometimes the valve is in the rear of the RV...

If there is no cutoff then tell him to purchase one of these. These are good to have even if you find a cutoff...

OP says it's a 5th wheel.

But whether there is a valve or not, the end of line valve recommended above is a nice extra safety add on that's easy to install. Also, even with a dump valve for a rear grey tank, I found that the end of line valve is actually required. With the rear valve shut, there is a strong possibility that there will be 20+ feet of grey water remaining in the pipe between the rear valve and the main dump cap. I learned this the hard way, which is why I installed the end of line shut off valve.

Someone posted recently that a Riverstone FR camper was plumbed the same way. Seems crazy to me!

Might not be on the 4" pipe or the end. I suggest getting under the trailer and looking. The handle may have taken off and there may just be a rod sticking out somewhere.

KSH, I think you mean 3". But I agree- I'd follow that pipe back up the trailer and see if there's something hiding out. Or there's a cable pull in a water bay or hidden up near the frame. They can be tricky to find.
Worst case, it wouldn't be hard to cut the ABS in an exposed area and add a valve yourself.
