Shower drain Leak

Got out the 2016 Coachmen Mirada and the shower drain in leaking. The nut at the end of the trap is broke. This nut attaches the black pipe to the trap. Has anyone replaced this, there doesn't appear to be enough to cut the pip and add new. Not a very good design if you have a problem. Looking for suggestions to repair. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Can you post a picture? A trap has two ends. Which end is the nut cracked on? If it is like all of the other shower p-traps I have seen on RVs, all you need is another 1-1/2” slip joint nut. It doesn’t matter if the nut is metal, black or white — any of them will work.

It's the nut on the right after the trap. How do you replace the nut? I have it apart, it seems like the piece is glued in. I will post a picture this evening.

If it is glued on and you have no easy way of taking it apart, you can do a rig fix on it by putting a hose clamp around the nut to bring the split back together, then tighten the nut back onto the trap. The trap and nuts are made of polypropylene — not ABS or PVC, so you can’t try to glue it because it won’t work.

A picture would really help.

Ok I'll get a picture tonight. The nut is actually broke out on the flat part (were the washer would seal) not split in half if that makes sense.

Makes sense. It was over-tightened.

It's been running for an hour, no leaks. [emoji1]

Never mind. I took a closer look and see what you did. If it doesn’t leak, go with it.
